Museum Gardens (2022)
Original media: Inks, gouache, acrylics, watercolour, 23 carat gold leaf and gold thread.
Painted for 'Whispering Ruins' – an exhibition of paintings based on North Yorkshire Abbeys at Chantry House Gallery, Ripley.
I was a student in York and it is one my favourite places! At college we would sit and read in the Museum Gardens, and walk through it late in the evening after films at City Screen. More recently I’ve had picnics with my children here, meeting up with old friends. Early this year I sat and painted in the ruins. The gardeners were cutting the grass and it smelled of spring.
