Evening at Shibden (2022)
Original media: Inks, gouache, acrylics, watercolour, pencil, 23 carat gold leaf and gold thread
All the talk of Anne Lister’s (slightly delayed) 200th Birthday celebrations made me imagine a party at Shibden Hall. Light spilling onto the lawn, chatter from inside. The light is on in the library. Perhaps Anne and Ann are hiding up there? There are several little owls on the stained glass window which inspired the birds eye view and the barn owl overhead.
