Painted for 'HOME' – a solo exhibition at Heart Gallery, Hebden Bridge.

This is the view from the path above the Pecket Well Monument (often known as Little Stoodley (known in my family as Steve Pike: Stoodley Pike’s little brother)), across the valleys to Heptonstall Church and Stoodley Pike. I love the way that these three landmarks line up. The path between two dry stone walls is sheltered by birch trees and flowering hawthorn – and later, honeysuckle. I love the sound of goldfinches. I don’t think they sing, they sound like they’re chatting; and always in a big group so there’s lots to talk about.
