The Fish Pier – Whitby

The Fish Pier – Whitby (2019)

Original media: Inks, gouache, acrylics, coloured pencil, pastel, gold leaf and gold thread.

Painted for ‘Catching the Light', a solo exhibition at Chantry House Gallery.

Whitby has amazing skies. It can be azure blue one minute, and hailing the next. This was a very cold bright day in January and even though we could see the storm heading towards us across the beach, we weren’t quick enough and got stung by the hail. This is the view from the Marine Parade, looking towards the lifeboat station, the fish Pier and the little beach below it. The town is so narrow and built up and colourful; beyond the twin piers is the open water and the weather that comes with it.

Available as a signed limited edition print, hand-finished with gold leaf and gold thread. All prints are mounted and can be posted, unless purchased framed.
