The Clough (2023)
Original media: Inks, gouache, acrylics, watercolour, coloured pencil, gold leaf and gold thread
Painted for 'HOME' - a solo exhibition at Heart Gallery, Hebden Bridge.
This is Nutclough woods, but there are so many beech woods in the valley, that maybe it’s a combination of Nutclough, Pecket Well Clough, and the woods around Cragg Vale. As the colours dull towards the end of Autumn, the colours get more intense in beech woods as the copper leaves carpet the ground, making the green moss stand out all the brighter. I walk these woods often and love the roar of the water when the rain pours off the moorland above.
