Down To Town (2023)
Original media: Inks, gouache, acrylics, watercolour, coloured pencil, gold leaf and gold thread
Painted for 'HOME' - a solo exhibition at Heart Gallery, Hebden Bridge.
This is the view down from Birchcliffe, across to The White Lion pub, Innovation Mill and Hebden Bridge Town Hall. A certain amount of artistic licence allowed me to move this washing line from where it hung, further up the hill!
Daniel wanted to call this ‘Eggs and Ham’ as the thing he always remembers about The White Lion pub (with the curving roof) is that Franz Liszt once stayed there:
"Arrived in Hebden Bridge – beautiful place in summer. Had comfortable breakfast, tho' countrified: eggs and ham."
