Hawthorn Arch (2021)
Original media: Inks, gouache, acrylics, watercolour, loose pigment, collage, gold thread, 23 carat gold leaf
Painted as part of The Nightingale Project: a series of trees and nature inspired by lock down in The Calder Valley from March 2020 to March 2021 (and the brief escapes from it over the summer).
This was the first of the lock down trees. It arches over the path that skirts Edge End Moor, below Stoodley Pike. It’s covered in lichen and has been shaped by the wind.
